According to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the realization of labour rights and the creation of "shareholders in the system" continue to be major obstacles for the world economy.

He said this in remembrance of International Labour Day, which is commemorated on May 1 each year to honour Chicago workers who were slain by police in 1886 while demonstrating for an eight-hour workday.

When asked about the terrible cost of living situation, Prime Minister Shehbaz responded on Twitter: "While we pay rich respect to the working classes and honour their accomplishments today".

“Together with increase in commodity prices, the working people find themselves under tremendous stress,” he stated.
“The edifice of material development that stands on the foundation of hard work will come crumbling if those who made it possible are excluded from its benefits. Fulfilling the labour rights and making people shareholders in the system remains a fundamental challenge for the global economy,” he said.

“Keeping in view the high inflation rates and other economic challenges, the government has increased the minimum monthly wages of workers from Rs17,500 to Rs25,000,” he stated.

To guarantee that employees were able to receive their fair share when joining the labour markets both inside and outside the nation, PM Shehbaz emphasised that the government had also started initiatives for vocational training and skills development.

Separately, President Dr. Arif Alvi stated that the purpose of this year's International Labour Day celebration was to affirm the "dignity of labour" and to honour the courageous and heroic struggle of workers for their fundamental rights.

“The labour force is the is backbone of our economy,” he said, It was also said that it was crucial to take action to preserve employees' rights by strictly enforcing labour rules to prevent unfair practices.

According to Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the foreign minister, the PPP would make sure that workers are represented in all elected entities.

In the forthcoming general elections, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari stated that "if people give the PPP the next mandate, the party will launch programmes like the Benzair Mazdoor Card for workers all over the country."

The PPP chairman emphasised that previous prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto launched the nation's labour strategy and trade union rights in 1972.

In order to strengthen the PPP and enable it to defend labourers' rights, Bilawal asked the nation's workers to join the party.

According to the interim chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Azam Khan, "development and prosperity" cannot be achieved without safeguarding the rights, honour, and dignity of the "hardworking class."

He paid tribute to workers for their “important role in the national building and development” and assured them that the caretaker government will take “every possible step” for their well-being.
